Ashwagandha, or Withania somnifera (WS), holds a special place in several traditional Ayruvedic preparations similar to ginseng in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditionally, ashwagandha was categorized as a Rasayana, or rejuvenator, for its wide ranging health benefits; said to “promote a youthful state of physical and mental health and expand happiness”*. The properties ascribed to Rasayanas in Ayurveda are remarkably similar to the definition of adaptogens today; a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress.
We can now supply Ashwagandha from Verdure Sciences, the makers of Longvida®. If you would like to learn more about this ingredient, please visit our dedicated page or contact us.
