Linking Sirtuins Proteins to Zooca® Calanus® Oil

In the pursuit of optimal health and longevity, the scientific community has increasingly turned its focus towards sirtuins – a family of proteins that play crucial roles in regulating cellular processes. Sirtuins are essential for maintaining overall health, regulating metabolism, and supporting cellular longevity. Zooca® Calanus® Oil, combined with a healthy lifestyle may help activate and improve sirtuin function, providing significant benefits for metabolic health and healthy aging.

Research on Zooca® Calanus® Oil has demonstrated that its unique composition, when paired with regular exercise, can have positive effects on cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and muscle mass1,2. Regular physical training is known to boost SIRT1 and SIRT3 activity, showing that exercise alone improves sirtuin function.

However, results1,2 showed that combining exercise with 2 g/day of Zooca® Calanus® Oil enhances these effects more than exercise alone, suggesting a synergistic effect on sirtuin activation.

What Are Sirtuins?
Sirtuins are proteins that regulate metabolic pathways and cellular stress through deacetylation, affecting other proteins' activity. In mammals, seven sirtuins (SIRT1-SIRT7) have distinct roles, with SIRT1 mainly in the nucleus and SIRT3 in the mitochondria.

Why Are Sirtuins Important?
According to research, sirtuins are crucial for cellular health, aiding in metabolic regulation, stress response, and reducing inflammation3. Higher SIRT1 activity reduces insulin resistance and fatty liver disease, while low levels are linked to inflammation and oxidative stress. Sirtuins, including SIRT1 and SIRT6, also support telomere integrity, closely tied to aging and disease4.

Zooca® Calanus® Oil, a Novel Food-approved oil from Calanus (zooplankton), provides premium nutrients beyond Omega-3. This Novel-Food Approved ingredient boasts a complete fatty acid profile, Marine Policosanols, and Astaxanthin, naturally bound in wax esters providing specific digestion and absorption benefits.

Zooplankton is a sustainable and eco-friendly resource found in the Norwegian Sea. Each year, of the approximately 290 million tonnes of Calanus are born, only 0.0005% of this population is responsibly and sustainably harvested to produce Zooca® Calanus® Oil.
