Hoodia parviflora is a succulent cactus-like milkweed plant of the Apocynacea family native to Kalahari Desert region of southern Africa. Traditionally, the stems of Hoodia species have been consumed by the African indigenous Khomani to reduce their hunger and thirst, specifically as an appetite suppressant, while on long hunting trips.
